When Work Feels Draining or Unfulfilling

Work takes up a large part of our lives, so when it starts to feel heavy, uninspiring, or misaligned, it can affect more than just our schedule. You might feel tired of showing up, disconnected from what you’re doing, or unsure if this path still fits who you are. These feelings don’t mean you’ve failed. They often mean something inside you is asking for change, clarity, or a new direction.

Reflection Prompts

  • What feels most draining about my current work or routine?

  • What parts of my job feel meaningful?

  • What parts of my job feel least aligned with who I am now?

  • How does work impact my energy outside of work hours?

  • What would a better balance look like?

  • If I could change one thing about my work life, what would it be?

  • What do I want more of in my day-to-day life?

  • What does “fulfillment” mean to me at this stage in my life?

Practices to Try Now

  • Write down one thing about your job that gives you energy and one thing that drains you

  • Roll your shoulders or neck 10 times to release tension

  • Step outside for fresh air or take a short walk without your phone to unplug

  • Do something small for yourself after work

Ways to Use Prompts

These prompts are here to support self-reflection and awareness. You can move through them in whatever way feels most helpful to you. You might choose to write your thoughts in a journal, use your phone’s Notes app, or simply reflect quietly in your mind. Some people also like to explore these prompts through voice notes or supportive AI tools for additional perspective. If you’re a member, you can also save your entries in 'My Journal' to keep everything in one place. Use them to check in with yourself, notice patterns, clarify what you are feeling, and understand what feels true for you in the moment. Move through these prompts at your own pace and in the way that feels most supportive for you.
